I have now done the first part of my primary research which was the questionnaire. After doing this research I concluded that my target audience is male teenagers. This is a target group I can easily persuade to play football. This is because in my secondary research it shows males in football are more idolised and become celebrities, rather then female footballers. So I will now do a second questionnaire to the target audience. In this questionnaire I will try to persuade the ones who don’t play football in my target audience to be more aware of sport and show the benefits.
1. – Are there any reasons why you don’t like to play any sport?
Yes -
No -
2. – Do you feel comfortable playing sport? Yes -
No -
3. – Does your diet affect you playing sport or not? Yes -
No -
4. – Would you be more convinced to play sport if you saw an advert giving you the benefits of playing it? Yes -
No -
5. – Would you participate in sport more if a world famous sport celebrity appeared in the advert? Yes -
No -
6. – If a professional expert said the benefits to play sport, would you then play the sport? Yes -
No -
7. – Are there any other methods to convince you to play sport? Yes -
No -
8. – If there are more sport centres near your area, would you participate in sports more? Yes -
No -
9. – If there isn’t any contact sports would you be more likely to play? Yes -
No -
10. – If there were better facilities for you to play, would you then play more sports? Yes -
No -
Questionnaire with results: I asked 20 of my target audience the ten questions, and these where the results:
1. – Are there any reasons why you don’t like to play any sport?
Yes – 13
No – 7
2. – Do you feel comfortable playing sport?
Yes – 11
No – 9
3. – Does your diet affect you playing sport or not?
Yes – 6
No – 14
4. – Would you be more convinced to play sport if you saw an advert giving you the benefits of playing it?
Yes – 15
No – 5
5. – Would you participate in sport more if a world famous sport celebrity appeared in the advert?
Yes – 18
No – 2
6. – If a professional expert said the benefits to play sport, would you then play the sport?
Yes – 14
No – 6
7. – Are there any other methods to convince you to play sport?
Yes – 13
No – 7
8. – If there are more sport centres near your area, would you participate in sports more?
Yes – 19
No – 1
9. – If there isn’t any contact sports would you be more likely to play?
Yes – 12
No – 8
10. – If there were better facilities for you to play, would you then play more sports?
Yes – 18
No – 2
(I have done an analysis of these answers and showed graphs and a short paragraph to summarise them. However they did not show on this blog)
Findings from primary research
In the primary research I found that in the questionnaire for the target audience 75% (15/20 people) would convinced to play sport if they saw an advert on the benefit of playing sport. I also found that 90% (18/20 people) said having a sporting celebrity to appear in the advert would be a benefit and they are more likely to play sport. They said they will pay more attention to the advert and this is another good reason why having a sport celebrity, is a benefit for my advert.
For my final scene I will have an interview with a pharmacist, with them describing the benefits of sport i.e. health and benefits etc. I think this will be a good scene because 70% (14/20 people) said that they would play sport if a professional such as a doctor was to say the benefits of a sport. So i know this is a useful scene in my advert as most of my target audience would take the advice.

Adam, I think that teenage boys is an appropriate target audience and you have covered a lot of ground in your research so far. I think you are focussing a litte too much on football. You are trying to appeal to your audience through a sport which they don’t play. If you are determined to use football in your advert, why not tailor your questionnaire to find out what the barriers to team sports are with your target audience and what would remove those barriers for them.
